Small italian company leading a large european founded Semantic Web / Digital Library project is looking for an experienced team leader and rails developer. The team is of 3 developers on-site plus at least 5 telecommuters (germany, norway, italy, france) . All the software developed will be released as Open Source. The team will be (more or less) english speaking. The project will last 3 years and there are good possibilities to be involved in other similar projects.
Pisa, Italy. Availability for short transfers (even abroad) is required. Working hours will be flexible.

- 1+ Experience with Ruby on Rails
- Experience architecting and developing large web-based solutions
- Must be able to jump into a project and take the lead quickly.
- Must have excellent communication skills (the project result will be frequently presented in conferences and on the media)
- Familiarity with: *nix, bash, html, xml, xslt, css, javascript
- Experience in contribution to or leading OSS projects.
- *ADVANCED* knowledge of at least one programming language for the web
- Excellent social and team working skills
- Proven ability to keep in touch with the OSS community
- Basic knowledge of linux servers administration
- Willingness to learn
- Solid theoretic CS background
- Knowledge of the Digital Library / Cultural Heritage domain
- Knowledge of OWL, RDF, SPARQL
- Familiarity with Semantic Web technologies and concepts
- Knowledge of OO design techniques
- Knowledge of PHP, JAVA and phyton programming frameworks
- Quantity and quality of contributions to OSS projects
- Publications and talk at conferences
- Ownership of web sites or blong about technologies
- Knowledge of additional languages (other than english and italian, epecially french and german)
- Deep knowledge of Linux and its different distributions
- Experience in programming with QT and GTK
- Knowledge of C, C++, OCaml
- Proven ability to manage the documentation of medium and large projects
- Undergraduate and doctoral degree.
Salary adequate to the position. Temporary contract wich can evolve into a permanent one. Informal and young working environment.
